Memories of Lives left behind

After a long and winding road, most of it in Europe I have reached that place my sprog calls 'crone-dom' and am currently exploring that status on a god-forsaken island in the sometimes frozen North Baltic. Actually, in the summer its glorious; I can't think of anywhere I would rather be then. Here I teach and develop special language programs (English in the Kitchen) to hotel & restaurant students in a vocational school in the capital town of our island.
But as my students say, I've had an interesting life. I left the USA and New York City in 1982 and lived 7 years on the island of Crete; an unforseen glitch sent me to London where I lived and worked (as a cook) as an illegal alien, for 4 years before re-patriating to Finland and in 1997 I accepted an offer to sign onto the Kuressaare Ametikool 'team'. Anyone interested in more details will have to read my blog as I am slowly trying to make a record and some sense of my wanderings.
I share my life with a 7 1/2 kilo black ball of feline bossiness named Neri and we live in an all yellow flat named 'Fleur de Soleil'. And my daughter made me do this - join LJ that is!
